Aura

Translucent marble table lamp Aura, lit; hand hovering above the disc

Translucent marble table lamp Aura by Mario Alessiani for Kimano. A circular stone disc rests on a cylindrical base; the body is CNC-carved with calibrated thicknesses so the perimeter stays opaque while a thinner central zone becomes subtly translucent. Off, it reads as pure stone; on, it reveals a warm halo for soft ambient light without glare.
The concept focuses on making the material speak. There are no visible fasteners or ornaments; the geometry is precise and minimal, so the veining and the depth of the surface become the main visual story. As a translucent marble table lamp, Aura balances clarity and atmosphere: it is calm by day and luminous by night. The light output is intentionally comfortable for living spaces, bedside use and hospitality, where ambience and service life matter more than raw lumen numbers. The calibrated thicknesses act as a natural diffuser, softening the source and avoiding hotspots.

Craft is part of the function. The machining tolerances allow a clean edge and a stable interface between stone and base, keeping the silhouette slim while the object stays grounded. Components are long-life and serviceable; felt pads protect surfaces; the cable length supports flexible placement on shelves, credenzas and side tables. The result is an object that integrates easily into contemporary interiors, offering a familiar archetype—disc and base—with a quiet twist: stone that turns into light.
